Pando Moto Steel Black Jeans Review
Protective motorcycle jean technology comes in many shapes, colors, sizes, and styles these days. Most of us have owned a few pairs of Kevlar-lined pants with optional pads on the knees, hips, and rear but they all seem to be bulky and heavy. On a hot day, those Kevlar-lined pants with pads all over the place become hot, sweaty, and uncomfortable and you just can’t wait to take them off. Thankfully, the technology and evolution of riding pants continues and has come a long way in just the past decade.
The Pando Moto Steel jeans solve the bulky, hot, and heavy debacle. The fabric is made out of Dyneema (which claims to be 15 times stronger than steel), DuPont Kevlar, and Cordura Coolmax (a durable denim fabric). The combination of these fabrics feels very lightweight and flexible. They’re CE rated for 6.5 seconds of sliding time, pretty impressive given the single-layer construction. If you feel the need for inner pads, Pando Moto’s Steel Black jeans have two slots for the knees and inner pockets for hip armor.
The cut of these jeans is slim but still feels roomy, unlike other well-known European brands which all seem to be too slim. Black is the only color available, but if black is your thing, these jeans are a solid choice. I have been sporting these pants daily for the past month and my only negative comment is that in cold riding conditions the fabric seems to suck the cold air onto your skin. But on a positive note, they feel great on those hot riding trips. So if you’re looking for a riding jean that gives you modern-day riding protection without looking like you’re geared up for a motorcycle ride, give these a try.
