New sissy bar and backrest for our passenger on a 2017 Harley-Davidson Road Glide.
As luxurious as Touring models like our 2017 Road Glide can be, P&A catalogs make sure there’s more. Removing the bags and spinning these docking spools into place meant we could install this detachable sissy bar. A couple of things to keep in mind: Dabbing on a little red Loctite before you snug the bolts down is a good idea, and before it sets, make sure the notches in the spools are oriented horizontally. Once the mounting hardware is in place, the bar will slide in behind the shock and then rotate down with a click, much like closing the trunk of a car.
The four-point detachable docking hardware kit (part No. 52300353 and 52300354) not only makes the backrest install a snap (literally), but also sets us up for adding more accessories down the line.

The sissy-bar bracket mounts behind the shock and at the front docking point with a click, rotating into place much like closing the trunk of a car. The rear docking points are for use with other H-D accessories, such as luggage racks.
