2017 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Overview
The biggest news out of big H-D in several years was the release of the all-new Milwaukee-Eight line of motors. This new powerplant combines the classic looks of the V-twin Harley has become world famous for, with the forefront of modern motorcycle technology. Big H-D isn’t like other companies. It can’t just come out with a new powerplant every two years with minor tweaks. It sells more motorcycles than most of all other manufacturers combined. Any update to its bikes, especially the motors, has a long-reaching effect that sets up a time in history. The 2017s are now the latest motors and the best motor it has ever released.
In 2014, Harley redesigned its entire chassis, electronics, and suspension with the Rushmore bikes. Back then, we loved the 2014 Street Glide and called it the best Glide built to date. Now in 2017, Harley combined the best chassis with the best motor and probably produced one of the best motorcycles, not just “Harleys,” to date. The Milwaukee-Eight is a beast of a motor with tons of untapped potential just waiting for the aftermarket to catch up. Power is nothing without control, and the 2017 Street Glide has that too!
More than likely this motor and chassis combination is here to stay for a while. If there was ever a time to hit up the local dealer and purchase a new bike, it’s now. Not only will this combination serve you well today, you’ll get a jump on all your buddies as new and innovative products get released.
